Busy 4th of July

When you don't have the luxury of a nursery at church, you make do with a cardboard box to lay your baby. The baby, Tommy, will be one year old this month. How time flies. Our granddaughter, Julianna, has made several friends at church. The local kids have not seen a red head, fare skinned girl before so we get several double takes while walking down the street. After going to church, Julianna get to shop, play games, swim and watch some fireworks. It was a busy but very blessed day.

Flexibility Required

Julianna, our granddaughter, made it to Kwaj on Sat. She has several firsts already. First outdoors movie theater, first ferry ride, first worship with the Marshallese people. We had an hour and half delay getting into the school room. We were sitting on the steps of the hallway in the middle of the 2 story building waiting for the key. We started singing songs with the kids & it carried into the street, where there was a fence around the building.
People (mostly kids) started collecting outside the fence listening to the singing. Pretty soon we had as many kids outside the fence on the street as we did on the steps singing songs. The key to the room was finally located and we invited everyone to join us. Julianna was amazed how easy it was to attract the kids by singing Bible songs on the steps of the building. It always amazes me when the Lord turns a negative situation into a positive blessing for everyone. It has happened more times than I can count since we have been here.
Peterson preached the sermon again this morning. We could not understand him, but you could tell he was better at his delivery. But best of all, he has a love for the Lord and a desire to spread God's word. Lee presented a DVD player to Peterson from Paul Hester who sent the player as a tool for Peterson to listen to sermons on DVD to learn about God's word. Peterson was so proud of it he turned around and told the church crowd about it in Marshallese. God is Great!

Father's Day

Lee did a good job on his sermon about what a father is on Father's Day. One of our sister's did a great job telling the kids about Noah. Thank you to Monica Wiggins for sending several boxes of items for the kids. Our granddaughter will be here Saturday to stay with us for a month. We will then fly her home and take a month of vacation in the states. We will be in Hanford, CA on Aug. 1st to see my sister and her family. Lee will be giving a report to the Hanford church of Christ about our mission work in the Marshall Islands in the evening service. Come listen if you are in the neighborhood.

Spreading God's Word

We were late getting into our school room today but the Lord was rejoicing with us because Peterson Jonah preached the sermon in Marshallese today. I have no idea what he said but one of the ladies said he did good. Our numbers have been down in kids and adults but I know the Lord has given Peterson the heart to share God's word with the Marshallese people. We are going to be in the states this summer for our vacation and I think Peterson will get lots of practice while we are gone. This is the reason we are all doing what we are doing. Two of those kids are Peterson's kids. They watched their father share God's word with the Marshallese people today. Praise God!

Money Management

We taught a class on how to manage your money by a budget. I simplified the budget and envelope system used by Dave Ramsey. Hopefully this will help our members to manage the money they earn. The kids were taught by Heity who also sang some Marshallese songs with the kids. I apologize for the way my postings have been coming out. They are not being set up that way on my draft. It seems to have a mind of its own. OH well, this is the day that the Lord has made.
