We worship the Lord

We had a great morning worshiping the Lord. We seem to have one or two more adults each week since Christmas. I am trying to figure out a way to get some chairs so we can offer each adult a place to sit. I started taking pictures of everyone who is coming to worship, making a copy of their picture along with their name and birthday. I don't think some of the kids have seen a picture of themselves. Thank you to Jeffery S Kahler, DDS. from Paso Robles, CA., who sent several children's toothbrushes and toothpaste. Thank you also to Howard Woods from Lubbock, TX. who sent some men's and young boys clothes. The men were delighted to get something. The parents are usually the last to get something new. Everyone's willingness to give to those that are so far away is a bright and shinning star to the people at church.

2010 Roll

We had a good church service this morning. We have had better adult attendance since Christmas. In a personal sad note, on my birthday this past week I figured out that I AM the oldest member at church. That is just WRONG! On the positive side, we do go to a small congregation! It is still just WRONG. The kids were in their usual take my picture pose. This little guy is Tommy. He was one of our babies born in August. I usually get to hold him on the ride back to Ebeye. I keep my Grandma skills sharp and usually put Tommy to sleep bouncing in my arms on the very rough road back to Ebeye. We received several more boxes from the Walnut church of Christ this week. Lee and I have been carrying a back pack full each week to church. Our Brothers and Sisters from Walnut are unbelievably generous. Gods blessings to all.

Better Hook Up

This is the island paper that is put out once a week. These are pictures of the ship that is laying a cable from Kwaj to Guam. This will finally put us in the 21st century. They are supposed to have the cable completed by June this year. The purpose is for the reason we are all here doing our jobs. The great side effect is that we now have dial up Internet that is slower than cold molasses and we will finally have a high speed Internet. We also now have a Satellite phone system in which either the caller or callie get to hear every word they say echoed back to them. It always throws me when there is an echo. I want to listen to see what I am going to say next. The other plus is that we will finally have cable HDTV available. We had a good group of kids and adults at church Sunday. Some of the people who we met for the first time at Christmas have come to church for the first time. I want to thank Monica Higgins for sending some boxes last week as well as getting several more boxes from the Walnut church of Christ. You all have made a lasting example to the Marshallese people about how Christians are supposed to help those who are in need. May God Bless all of you for your unbelievable generosity.

Christmas 2009-two

Some more pics of our wonderful Christmas. We had a few people I had never met before, but we had more than enough for everyone. The boy in blue looks like he is falling, but he just moves fast. Oh to be able to move half that fast again. Thank you to everyone who had any part in providing Christmas for the kids of Gugeegue and Ebeye. We had a good fellowship together and the kids were so excited all day. The parents were thrilled to see all the kids get some new clothes. That is the biggest expense for them and the hardest for them to provide for their children. We received some more boxes this week from the Walnut church of Christ in Texarkana. They really stepped up to the plate and came through for us. Our DVD player had gone to DVD heaven and Liesl Waldrum has sent us a new player. God's Blessings on all who helped these kids have such a wonderful Christmas.

Christmas Gift

This is a gift that the wonderful people at church gave us for Christmas. These were entirely made out of coconut shells. We also received several assorted sea shell trinkets. They even have hair made from the coconut. Pretty unique and cool. The Marshallese people are still celebrating Christmas on Ebeye. They go until 2-3 am every morning We still had a good crowd at church Sunday morning.
