3rd Day of Gospel Meeting

We had a great third night for our Gospel Meeting. It was sunny and dry all day. We had to get three taxi's to carry around 40 people from Ebeye to Gugeegue to hear God's word. We are praying that we will have several responses to God's invitation tonight, the last night of the meeting. To God be the glory, praise his name!

Day Two of Meeting

We had a good crowd for day two of our meeting. Praise God, lots of men showed up to the church service. They worked on getting the white walls up today. Notice you don't see any 2x4's showing on the walls any more. Hopefully they will get the ceiling covered today. It was really crowded on the ferry ride over to Ebeye. I felt like I was in a sardine can. Stuffed in there. We have to leave Kwaj when most of the workers are going home from their days work in order to make it to Gugeegue in time for the church service. Those precious souls have to stuff onto those ferry's twice a day to make a living. Count your Blessings people!

Sunday Gospel Meeting

This is Paul preaching at the Sunday night meeting. Praise God, we even had some men show up a second time. It rained in the morning on the way over and again on the way home from the evening worship. Everyone in the back of the pick up were drenched. With all the rain the roads are rougher than ever. I would dearly love to get a couple step vans so we can all get to church dry. Count your blessings brothers and sisters. We were up stairs with the kids for our bible class. Notice that we now have walls and doors up stairs. We also now have a toilet that works. YEA! There is a shower area and a place for a sink they will be putting in this week. They will have all those hooked up to water before it is all finished. Paul is staying at the church building to save time and money going back and forth every day. Lee is going over today and several men said they would help work on the building. Of course we are holding the Gospel Meeting Sun-Wed. Pray that God will touch the hearts of several souls this week. The second baby boy was born on Aug 5th. You can't tell in this pic, but he has a whole head of black hair. With all the heat, he is already fighting heat and diaper rash. The women were mixing some local remedy that was handed down from one generation to the next to put in the babies bath to cure the rash. Another precious blessing from God.

Rain, Rain and More Rain

We have been 25" behind in our rain fall. A preacher is like a state fair coming to town......the rain will come. It has rained every day since Paul came to Kwaj. It rained 2.28" yesterday alone. We needed the rain but I hope it stops until after Paul and Lee leave. The already rough road between Ebeye and Gugeegue is even rougher and harder to travel. Those little taxi's (foreign dual cab pick ups) almost get lost in the puddles. It makes the trip much longer to travel back and forth to Kwaj. Once they get the bathroom completed at the church building Paul will stay at the church building to cut down on cost and the extra time required to travel back and forth. There are some locals who are helping on the building. Lee is getting stronger each day recovering from the flu and will take Sat. off and Mon. to help out. Pray for our continued progress.

Mission Report

We had our first Sunday with Paul Hester preaching. You can't tell by this pic, but we had three men and several of our regulars to attend. We pray the men will return to worship with us again. We had good numbers of kids and adults in the AM service. One of the taxi's delayed half the group from getting to the church building but the adults joined the kids up stairs and we had a good sermon from Paul. We held our evening service in the yard of Chris, a Christian who was baptised last year by Robert, one of the preachers who helped build the church building. Some of the local people were sitting on there porch listening to Paul's sermon. It was pretty hot, but the ocean was right behind Paul. The roosters were crowing and the chickens were running all over the area looking for anything to eat. Not something you see every day in the states, but pretty real for the islands. I warned Paul about the flu going around before he came. Lee ended up staying at home in the evening because he has caught the flu. He was supposed to go with Paul today to work on the building, but stayed home to avoid spreading the germs and because he feels terrible. Lee has already taken off tomorrow to work on the church building. Hopefully he will be well enough tomorrow. Some of the men from Ebeye and Gugeegue are supposed to help Paul today.
