New Provisions

This is an Army base and we were allowed only a couple thousand pounds of our own stuff to be shipped to the island.  Thus, you use issued furniture, and appliances.  The furniture was all 70's and eighties stuff and long ago uncomfortable.
The base is finally getting new furniture. We now have a leather couch, two new night stands, and a new dresser.  Our dryer broke and they could not fix it so we were blessed with a new one.  Thank God for what he provides.

Most of the Marshallese would love to have the old furniture.  Most have little or no furniture.

Easter 2012

You don't see pretty Easter bonnets, new clothes, shoes or Easter baskets brimming with toys, plastic eggs and candy. The kids get real boiled eggs. We don't have tables and chairs to sit at in class.  But, our little sponges did soak up the story of Jesus Christ and how he rose from the dead to live again. Some of the members took the kids on a picnic for lunch and some Easter fun.

The Ebeye public school has replaced the crumbling stairs on one section of their school and it has been reopened.
Another part has been closed and they are working on repairing that section of the school.

Thank you to Bonnie Howell for sending some clothes for the kids. The Mothers were grateful for the little boys clothes, and the girls were thrilled to have something new.

We have had several members in the Ebeye hospital lately.  Thank You God, all are fine now. You have to bring your own sheets and blankets to use during your stay in the hospital. They put four hospital beds in a 15'x15' room.  The one 'private room' I saw had a two foot clearance around the foot and one side of the bed.  I have heard that this hospital is better than the one in the capitol.  Thank you Lord for our blessings!

Heath Issues

Several of our members have been having health issues. One of our sisters has been struggling with passing out from heart problems caused by diabetes. Another of our sisters is in the hospital with surgery for kidney stones.
With the revolving door of Drs. on Kwaj, I think I finally know why my health has made a nose dive.  It would be a struggle to make the long airplane flight right now for this years vacation. With the Lord's help, I will get stronger from here.

Peterson had some surgery on his foot.  He has been recovering well from the surgery, but fell last Sunday and cracked a rib taking communion to our teachers.

Keep us in your prayers as everyone's health gets back where it needs to be.

Majuro Connection

David Smith baptised Lucky Lucky from Majuro, Marshall Islands.  Lucky's father was the first member of the church on Ebeye.  He is related to several of our members.  Lucky let Paul know when he was here that he wanted to be baptised.  David is the preacher of the church in Majuro and has been studying with Lucky. God is GOOD!

Plan B

A*Taxi* in the Marshall Islands is the back of a small dual cab pick up. We have church members from Ebeye and Gugeegue. The islands are about five miles apart, but the road is so rough, it takes 30-45 minutes to ride from one island to the other. It is always in the middle 80's, so you never get cold when it rains.

Thank you to Damon & Gina Blankinship and the Bitburg, Germany, Church of Christ for cash to help pay for taxi's for our members to get to church. God's Blessings on you all.

You must have a plan *A, B & C* when you worship in the Marshall Islands. The classrooms we are using for kids Bible class & worship were opened late.  Lee went to plan *B* and lead the kids songs outside the classroom.
Yolonda taught the kids under a tree in the court yard and has filled in the past couple weeks when plan *A* did not work out.  We have great teachers who are always ready to teach the kids about God.
